Videos

Shiny Ray

Lyrics, Composition by uz; Arrangement by Yoshida Minoru

Featured in Little Witch Academia as its opening theme. Was the first track of her first CD, along with “Akatsuki Departure” and “My Destination”. Released on February 2017.

鏡面の波 [Kyoumen no nami]

Lyrics, Composition, Arrangement by Terui Yoshimasa

The title means something in the lines of “The mirror surface of the waves” or “Waves on the mirror’s surface”. It has been featured as the opening theme of the anime Land of the Lustrous that aired in Japan on 2017. Released on December 2017.

ふたりの羽根 [Futari no hane]

Composition by Mizuno Yoshiki; Lyrics, Arrangement by Yamamoto Shou

I loosely translated the title into “The wings/feathers of two people” but I don’t swear by the translation. It is their fourth single and the opening theme of Hanebado!. Released on August 2018.

Le zoo

Lyrics by Karasawa Miho; Composition, Arrangement by Kosaki Satoru (MONACA)

The ending theme of the show Beastars. Released on November 2019.

Opinion

Her releases show that YURiKA isn’t restricted into a single genre. She rather ranges from pop to prog rock / alt rock and all the way to math rock. I heard some hints of Sword Art Online and Tokyo Ghoul in some of her songs. I also saw a number of interesting collaborations and a good selection of names. Her latest release, “Le zoo”, that is featured as the ED of Beastars, was yet another work of the well-known and well-established composer, Kosaki Satoru. That being said, she belongs to the array of artists who can be both in opening and ending themes, making her a valuable addition to the TOHO animation team. There were two songs that I enjoyed the most. “Le zoo” is one of the two as from the very beginning, I imagined the feeling of warmth from a single beam of sunshine shining after a long storm. “Kyoumen no nami” is my other favorite, as it has this sentimental / emotional vibe, to the point where it’s almost abstract. YURiKA; an artist affiliated with TOHO animation. That means something.

If you feel frisky, adventurous or if you know your Japanese, have a look at her official website.
